Reported to GLAKES, IL for Boot Camp in August 1964.  Completed TD"A" in latter part of 1965.  Reported to NAS Corpus Christi, Texas for duty immediately thereafter - assigned to celestial navigation trainers.  Completed TD"B" school (Memphis, TN) in 1968 and went to FAETUPAC, NAS Agana, Guam for two great years - assigned to Willy Victor flight and tactics simulators.  Next duty station was FAETULANT/FASOTRAGRULANT, NAS Albany, Georgia - RA5C Vigilante simulator.  Moved the Vigilante trainer to NAS Boca Chica, Key West in 1974 and spent another 4 years with this one of a kind (nightmare to maintain) Weapon System Trainer.  Made Chief during this tour.

Moved to the Surface Propulsion Simulation world in 1978 at Service School Command, GLAKES, IL.  Transferred to Saufley Field, Pensacola, FL (NTEC/NTSC Regional Office Central)in 1981 to assist software engineering staff with Surface Propulsion Simulators modification program.  Retired from active duty in late 1985 and immediately rejoined the Regional Office Central Surface engineering team, first as a contractor, then civil service.  Retired from civil service (GS-12) on 31 January 2003.

Made some lifelong friends along the way.  TDCM S. G. Hartsfield (was an usher at my wedding in 1966 and lives a block away from me now).  MCPO Hartsfield was the last E-9 selected before the rate was disestablished.  TDC Reynolds Lambert (also lives a block away from me right next to Grady Hartsfield).  SCPO Lester Hitchcock, CPO John Rymark, TDCS Butch Riley, TDCS Pete Hoyt, TDCS Larry Blay, TDC Loyd George, TDCS Don Swords, TDC Otis Light, all the TDC(S)(M) Smiths I came in contact with, TDCM Jon Peterson, TDC Bill Dellinger, CPO Scott Barnes, CPO Ken Kulas, TDCM Grant Kelly, TDC Ray Cooper.
